Just finished the four paintings for the Residence Inn in the Epicenter Mall Tower above the Epicenter Mall in Uptown center city Charlotte, NC. These are all embellished prints; I photographed the originals, submitted them to ARC graphics, in Greenville, SC, who printed them on wood panels and then I painted over whatever parts I thought needed to be changed; so they are prints that are originals. Liz Barr at Art Resources contacted me for this job last year and it's been postponed repeatedly-it was supposed to be installed months ago-but it's finished now and the hotel is filled with permanent displays from many local Charlotte artists as well as rotating displays as well! Great opportunity for the Charlotte art scene to be seen! Lynx Blueline Light Rail At The Epicenter Ac Hotel/Residence Inn 36inx48in oil on primed MDF7/4/2018 This is a commissioned piece for the AC Hotel/ Residence Inn on top of the Epicenter mall in Uptown Charlotte, NC. Great area, but difficult to paint as the hotel wasn't done when I started! this one and three others will be on permanent display in these 2 hotels in one tower above the Epicenter mall in the middle of uptown Charlotte. I'm planning on a rotating display of other paintings I'm working on to be there too, and it opens in mid July 2018... Charlotte is really growing fast.
The Top picture is my Wife, Elizabeth, and our boys at her awards ceremony. This is her first year of culinary school and she has a 4.0GPA, is on the president's list, and received an excellence award here-something only like 72 people from all different fields on campus ever get! She has always been a foodie and an outstanding cook-and soon she will be an outstanding chef! Below is a later trip to the international Sandwich Festival at Aldergate in Charlotte. I'm so proud of her!
View of St Phillip The Evangelist church spire from the Dock Street Theatre in the French Quarter of Charleston, SC. Madison Capitol Group has offices in several cities and wanted a mural with elements of them, so here's one panel of five-four and whoe panels. in progress...
The finished mural! A view of mount Fuji from Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. A quiet, relaxing scene for anyone on the viewers' benches watching the classes to enjoy. The sensei, Ruben Irigoyen, said he gets calls from all over about the mural because it's a picture on their Yelp review! This was a fun project at a great school.
working nights after classes were done on a wall for the dojo. Hair has gotten longer since I last posted...
